Shmini Atzeret (Eighth Day of Assembly) for Hebrew Year 5781 begins at sundown on Friday, 9 October 2020 and ends at nightfall on Saturday, 10 October 2020. Shemini Atzeret (שמיני עצרת - "the Eighth [day] of Assembly") is a Jewish holiday. It is celebrated on the 22nd day of the Hebrew month of Tishrei (first month of calendar). In the Diaspora, an additional day is celebrated, the second day being separately referred to as Simchat Torah. In Israel and Reform Judaism, the holidays of Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah are combined into a single day and the names are used interchangeably.

Expect to be inspired by innovative prayer services. This is a Conservative Synagogue service using a variety of means to get you involved. We move steadily through the prayer service and highlight with explanations of the various prayers and their order; discussions about Torah. Please join us and see if you don't get excited about Judaism all over again. We will be conducting services live and also via Zoom with Temple Sholom. Services will start on Saturday (4/24) morning at 10:00 am PT until 12:00 pm PT. We will use the Siddur Hadash and you can also follow along with the Zoom link.

Simchat Torah (Day of Celebrating the Torah) for Hebrew Year 5781 begins at sundown on Saturday, 10 October 2020 and ends at nightfall on Sunday, 11 October 2020. Simchat Torah or Simḥath Torah (also Simkhes Toreh, Hebrew: שִׂמְחַת תורָה, lit., "Rejoicing with/of the Torah,") is a celebration marking the conclusion of the annual cycle of public Torah readings, and the beginning of a new cycle. Simchat Torah is a component of the Biblical Jewish holiday of Shemini Atzeret ("Eighth Day of Assembly"), which follows immediately after the festival of Sukkot in the month of Tishrei (mid-September to early October on the Gregorian calendar).

I am typically in my office at Temple Sholom of Ontario on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:15 am - 1:15 pm. I am typically available unless I have a pre-arranged appointment or commitment.
